Nikki and Colleen are a very special couple, not only were they super nice people, but they were married on the day of Boston Pride – 6/9/12. It would be a great way to celebrate their anniversary with hundreds of other gay couples. They decided to host their reception party on a separate day and I was honored to be a part of it. Nichole and Colleen met in college and have been together for 15 years. I mean, like, can you imagine how long 15 years are? If I remember correctly, they’ve been together the second longest amongst all the couples I’ve photographed. Port 305 holds a special place in their hearts because it’s where they had their first date. It was so long ago all they remembered was they dined and hung out on the pier that overlooked Marina Bay – how romantic!
(Due to privacy reason, photos of guests are not shown here.)
I love seeing how happy they are together. It warms my heart.
These boats are one of the reasons why they love Marina Bay.
The color theme was black and white raspberry, sounds so delicious. Even most of the family and guests were dressed in black and white.
Try not to drool…
What was the most memorable moment of your after-wedding party?
Nikki: Being with Colleen, dancing the night away, surrounded by our family and friends…those we love. It was wonderful.
Colleen: It was so nice to hear Bob, my father-in-law (so funny to finally say) give us a toast, followed by our friend Carolyn. It was yet another reminder of the love and support we have in our lives.
Any advice for future brides, especially same-sex couples?
Nikki: Enjoy! Make sure you eat something – the night goes by so quickly…. I didn’t eat a thing and I was hungry from all the dancing :-)
Colleen: Don’t go crazy with all the choices – you will know what is right for you. Make sure you make the decisions together and most importantly – HAVE FUN!
Where are you going for honeymoon?
Nikki: TBD…every day has been like a honeymoon :-)
Colleen: Some place special with my Nickie… just trying to decide – a whole new fun adventure of planning is ahead for us :-)
Funniest memory of the night?
Nikki: Our wedding crashers were pretty funny… we didn’t even care because they were dancing away and having a good time.
Colleen: All the fun laughs we had between the dance floor, picture taking and photobooth. Our personalized drinks were a hit – who knew?Vendor love: Photographer: Ze Liang Photography Officiant: Lucinda Graham of Weddings by Design (The wedding ceremony was on another day but Lucinda specializes in gay weddings and was highly praised by Nichole and Colleen.)
