Wedding by the Boston Common + a same-sex couple, how could I say no to second shooting for Jackie Ricciardi Photography. We had a blast photographing this lovely lesbian couple, Catherine and Stephanie. Jackie photographed the getting ready and formals parts of the day so I stared before ceremony. It was my first time shooting at the Hampshire House and I loved that it was next to the Boston Common (it took me 15 minutes to walk there from my place).
One of the biggest challenge (as a photographer) was the lighting at Hampshire House. The rooms were lit by tungsten (orange-y) lights. The ceremony took place in the late afternoon so it was a challenge balancing day light and tungsten light color temperatures. After sunset and the lights were dimmed, the reception room was very dark. I used three speed lights to light up the room evenly; this was a first for me since I’ve only used 2 speed lights at wedding receptions (I might write a blog post about it later). I loved how the result turned out and I’m glad I tried something new. Most people find it strange that I love reception lighting, but I just love that I always have enough time and no stress to experiment and get everything right.
I can go on and on with the geeky stuff but unless you’re into reception lighting/photography as much as I am, feel free to scroll down :)
Haha, love the expression.
I’m totally in love this first dance. They made it so fun.
I just love how she and her mom are holding hands on the dance floor. So sweet!
Spotted some fabulous hair pieces.
Their laughs are contagious.
… and the night ended with a kiss on the dance floor.
I heart photographing same-sex weddings. Feel free to browse around my gay and lesbian engagement and wedding photos.
