I’ve always loved photographing weddings at the Cohasset Harbor Inn. The venue is gorgeous. It’s perfect for couples who love having their weddings by the water/harbor. Yin and William picked the perfect venue for their wedding. I also loved that they chose to do their bridal party formals at the Scituate Lighthouse. For anyone who loves lighthouses, I was as excited as a fat kid on Halloween.
I posted this first image below as a preview on my Facebook page, and I’d like to explain the process of how I took this photos again because I’m just that proud of it :) On the day of the wedding, it was cloudy and windy; the two don’t usually mix well because of how fast the clouds passes in front of the sun, the lighting changes constantly. We had to be patient to wait until the sun was hidden behind a cloud to get this soft and diffused light. It also just happened that the wind was blowing on Yin’s beautiful dress. If I had to pick one photo to frame in my living room, this would be the one.
The day started at Wellington Crossing Clubhouse, where Yin and William resided. We had a Chinese tea ceremony. And then we had a light meal, so no one would starve the rest of the day. This seems to be the norm at Asian weddings from my experience, which is good. After that, Yin changed into her Western wedding gown and proceeded to the Scituate Lighthouse for the first look and bridal party formals.
As a side note, we did Yin and William’s engagement session at Humarock Beach in Marshfield. Check it out if you haven’t. We had a blast. Yin and William were such a fun and awesome couple to photograph because of their quirky and laid-back personalities.
Bow to the bride!
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding celebration?
Yin: “One of the most memorable moments was sneaking up to Will for our “first look” at the lighthouse – it was such a beautiful setting! I also loved seeing all of our families and friends dancing the night away.”
William: “I have to say ” first look” was the most memorable moment that day. She look amazing in that wedding gown.”
Funniest memory of the day?
Yin: “There were so many funny memories that day…one of my favorites was during the tea ceremony games when Will and his groomsman serenaded me to Back Street Boys. I could not stop laughing! The second funniest memory was when we were exchanging vows. When it was my turn to place the ring on Will’s hand, I was so nervous that I tried to put the ring on his wrong hand!”
William: “She was so nervous that she to put the wedding band on my right hand.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Yin: “Brides – Don’t sweat the small details, because somehow it all comes together and everything has a way of working out in the end!
Grooms – Help the bride with the planning and decision making. We all know the wedding is all about the bride ;) but you will have a much happier bride if she has your help every step of the way.”
William: “That special day goes by quick, enjoy and remember every moment!”
