Remona and Sharon’s wedding at the Boston College Club was one of the most romantic and beautiful weddings I’ve had the honor to photograph. Unlike a traditional wedding with an elaborate reception, they chose to to have an intimate ceremony outdoors. It was just like an elopement since they weren’t originally from Boston. They had Bernadette of 14 Stories to plan their wedding day, who did a phenomenal job as always. Remona and Sharon got ready at the Boston College Club. It was a stunningly beautiful venue. For those of you who don’t know, you might think that the Boston College Club is at Boston College (BC) or Boston University (BU) campus, but it’s actually not, it’s within a few minutes of walking distance from the Boston Common. Remona and I met up prior to the wedding day to scout out a ceremony spot at the Public Garden. She had such a warm and bubbly personality and we instantly clicked.
It was truly amazing to see people cheering at the couple. This is one of many things that I’m proud to be a Bostonian and live in the first state (Massachusetts) that legalized same-sex marriage.
We scouted out a few spots for the wedding ceremony at Boston Public Garden and this one under the hanging tree was our favorite.
A small crowd gathered around to watch the marriage ceremony and many of them were kind enough to offer to take videos on Remona’s phone. A very nice gentleman took a few panoramic pictures of the brides and the reverend and offered to send them the photos.
Boston College Club Same-Sex Wedding
Half of the wedding was at the Boston College Club where they got ready and did the cake cutting. They reserved two rooms for the preparation. One for the brides and one for the reverend. They also had two personal wedding butlers to help make everything run extra smoothly. It was my first time working with wedding butlers and I was pleasantly intrigued by how helpful they were, not just to the brides, but also to me, from holding the bouquets while we did our couple portraits, to help fluff the wedding dresses. If you have the wiggle room in your wedding budget to hire wedding butlers, I highly recommend it. You will not believe how magically they can make your wedding day stress-free.
The cake cutting was at the College Club. We picked a spacious room with this beautiful gigantic painting as our backdrop.
Boston Public Garden Same-Sex Wedding Bridal Portraits
After the ceremony, we did some couples portraits at the Boston Public Garden. It was such a beautiful day to do outdoor pictures. Remona and Sharon looked smexy in their wedding dresses. Remona wanted to get some single ladies together and throw her bouquet, but the crowd was mostly tourists and didn’t speak English so they had no idea.
I had an incredible time photographing Remona and Sharon’s gorgeous wedding at the Boston College Club and Public Garden. If you’re planning a wedding or elopement in or around the Boston, MA area and looking for a gay-friendly wedding photographer, I would be honored to document your special memories.
