Catherine and Jeff’s DeCordova Sculpture Park Museum wedding was one of the most beautiful and fun weddings I’ve ever photographed. We were introduced by Yin and William, a couple who I adore and photographed back in 2014. Catherine and Jeff loved museums and we did their engagement session at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. One of my favorite things about this wedding is, aside from how wonderful it was to work with the couple and the wedding party, the reception toasts were absolutely hilarious. I loved hearing all the funny and embarrassing moments the bride and groom had together.
Here’s a little about Catherine and Jeff’s story I grabbed from their wedding website:
“Jeff and Catherine were both at UIUC in 2004 but they didn’t meet there. Post UIUC, Catherine moved to Boston and Jeff also moved to Boston a few years later but they still didn’t meet. 7 years later, they were both at the NAAAP Convention Gala in 2011, where Catherine walked every table to ask for donation. Nope they didn’t notice each other! So, it is very true that if you are not ready to meet the one then you don’t see him even when he walks right by you.
On a chilly February morning in 2012, Jeff and Catherine had their first date at In A Pickle for an early Sunday brunch. Catherine was super tired from the night before and seriously considered cancelling, but she decided to show up 20 minutes late with the just-roll-out-of-bed look. Being a gentleman, Jeff waited patiently. The most memorable first date moment for Catherine was that Jeff hit his head against the daily special menu board when he was standing up to offer Catherine a better seat. That moment was packed with genuine kindness and super cuteness. They had a tasty breakfast and great conversation, but their second date at the North End didn’t happen until a month later in March. On that second date, they stayed until the restaurant closed. They went on to develop a honest, supportive, and loving relationship with each other in the past 3+ years. Jeff and Catherine have this special connection that no words can adequately describe. It is true that when you find the one, you feel it.”
